One month in

I started this website a little over a month ago and I figured I’d give a little update on my progress and goals for the site. I am working on the site every day and have made significant progress, but there’s a long way to go before all the basic features are in place.

So far I have finished the majority of the various brand and scale (where applicable) pages. I have photographed most of my collection to help populate those those pages with images. I’ve created feedback and photo submission forms to help users contribute to the site. I think the biggest improvement for users is the Breyer 2021 Releases page I’ve added. I prioritized getting individuals models on that page because I know that constant updating of current releases is one of the biggest features people miss from Identify Your Breyer. Be sure to play around with the table on that page, because you can sort by any of the columns!

In the future I will be adding much more content and additional features. The only thing holding be back from getting some of the items done right now is my lack of knowledge of building websites, but I am learning more every day! These goals include:

Short Term Goals

  • Continue adding brand and scale pages where lacking. This mostly applies to the China and Other Plastic brands. I also need to add Breyer’s other product lines and Peter Stone’s resins and micros.
  • Initiate a drive for photo submissions so I can get photos of models I don’t personally have access to.
  • Fix various formatting issues around the site, including weird photo and text alignments on smaller screens.
  • Create the individual mold pages that will list all models on each mold. Getting this done is the biggest technical issue I have right now. I know this is the main feature people are looking for and I am trying to get it done but I still need to figure out how.
  • Add an advanced model search option.

Long Term Goals

  • Allow users to create accounts
  • Users can use the MHIS database to create a list of their entire collections
  • Users can document collections with their own photos and add prices
  • Export your collection list to PDF, spreadsheet, etc to send to your insurer or keep for your own records
  • Users can easily create wishlists or sales lists with a few clicks
  • Possible social media aspects, like sharing your collection list/wishlists/sales lists with other users

Keeps in mind many of these long term goals are kinds of pie in the sky ideas and may never happen, but I would really like to add them and I will do my best. That’s all for now!

  1. Can you please give us another update? I found this website last night, and I have been spreading the word, but I would really like to hear about your current progress on those individual mold pages! Thank you so much!

    1. Thank you so much for your interest! I had a couple of live shows recently that kept me busy and then I got eye surgery two weeks ago that has made it difficult to work on the computer. However, I’m starting to work on things again and will hopefully finish tweaking my Breyer database soon so I can get the mold pages up!
